Theodosius the Great

Theodosius, Flavius (or Theodosius the Great) (349–95 AD) Roman emperor in the East (379–94) and sole emperor (394–95). The son of a famous general, Count Theodosius, Gratian appointed him co-emperor in 378. After failing to defeat the GOTHS he formed a treaty with them in 382. He was a champion of strict political and religious orthodoxy. His two sons, Arcadius and Honorius, succeeded him.
